Configuring AI

Overview

There There includes built-in AI features powered by large language models. Before using AI chat, documentation search, or AI-generated summaries, you need to configure an AI provider in your workspace settings.

Supported Providers

There There supports two AI providers:

  • OpenAI: Uses the GPT-4o model.
  • Anthropic: Uses the Claude Sonnet model.

Both providers deliver high-quality results. Choose whichever provider you already have an account with, or whichever best fits your organization's preferences.

Setting Up Your API Key

  1. Go to your workspace settings and find the AI configuration section.
  2. Select your preferred provider (OpenAI or Anthropic).
  3. Enter your API key. You can obtain one from the OpenAI dashboard or the Anthropic console.
  4. Save your settings.

Your API key is stored securely using encryption. There There never exposes your key in the UI after it has been saved.

Activating AI Features

After entering a valid API key, activate AI features for your workspace. This enables the AI chat assistant in tickets, AI-generated ticket titles and summaries, and documentation search capabilities.

You can deactivate AI features at any time by clearing your AI configuration from the workspace settings. This removes the stored API key and disables all AI-powered functionality.

Cost Considerations

AI usage is billed directly by your chosen provider based on the number of tokens processed. There There does not add any markup. Monitor your usage through your provider's dashboard to keep costs predictable. The AI assistant uses a low temperature setting (0.3) to produce consistent, focused responses.
